Aims and Objectives
- To explain, disseminate and popularize different discoveries and advancements of science;
- To cultivate correct, scientific and logical faculty of mind;
- To foster consciousness against unscientific notions, superstitions, fanaticism, communalism, untouchability, casteism, and such other orthodoxy;
- To study history and philosophy of science;
- To inculcate ethical values and social responsibility in all fields of scientific endeavour;
- To devise and introduce correct method of teaching and learning science;
- To conduct campaign and movement for a secular, scientific and democratic education policy;
- To mobilise opinion and move for the introduction of correct and pro-people government policies in regard to the development and application of science and technology for the benefit of the people;
- To build up movements for the preservation of natural resources and for the correct use of science and technology to ensure sustainable development and protection of environment; and
- To fight against the misuse of science employed for the destruction of humanity.
To achieve these desired goals, we organize:
- Lectures, deliberations, debates, discussions, workshops, seminars, slide shows, nature studies, educational excursions, science camps, group study circles etc.
Organize science awareness programmes against superstitions, astrology etc.
- Improve science education through hands-on experiments in order to foster inquisitive mind and create a love for science among school students.
- Promote amateur astronomy.
- Organize literacy programmes for the illiterate people with a view to building up scientific outlook among them.
- Create awareness about health, hygiene and dangers of drug addiction.
- Provide farmers with modern ideas and innovations in agriculture with the aim of protecting the environment.
- Conduct field studies on environmental pollution.
- Obstruct the drainage of untreated toxic waste products into the environment by the industries.
- Organize campaign against the unplanned and uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources guided by profit motive.
- Fight far-reaching and dangerous influence of the profiteer-controlled audio visual media and to fight the all-pervading influence of consumerism.
- To impart the ethics of science we highlight the life and struggle of scientists and humanists.
